How to get to Fribourg
By train : Fribourg can be reached in 90 minutes from Geneva, Zurich and Basel, in around 45 minutes from Lausanne and in less than 30 minutes from Berne. Click here for train connections and fares.
Reduced train fares: Train tickets within Switzerland are sometimes available at reduced prices if you book a few weeks in advance. These tickets are only valid for the selected connection and offers start 60 days before the date of travel. Click here for more info and to check availabilities.
By car : A12 motorway. The nearest exit is Fribourg Nord.
On foot : In general, the town of Fribourg is small enough to get to most places on foot. The HEP | PH FR is about 1 kilometre from the train station. Walking directions from the train station: Turn left in front of the main entrance to the train station, walk past the department stores and through the pedestrian zone. Cross the large square (Place Georges Python) to continue walking down the Rue de Lausanne. At the end of the Rue de Lausanne, turn left at the Café Le Rendez-Vous to get to the Rue de Morat in about 200 metres. The HEP | PH FR can be found on the right-hand side of the road.
By bus : The closest bus stop is Fribourg Capucins. It is served by bus line 1 which leaves every 7 minutes and the journey from the train station takes around 5 minutes (take bus number 1 towards Portes-de-Fribourg). A single-fare bus ticket in Fribourg costs CHF 2.90 (with Swiss half-fare travelcard: CHF 2.20)
